In November, third year resident Alexandra Malebranche, DDS, took a research trip to Roatan, Honduras. There she collected data for her study evaluating the efficacy and practices of a caries prevention project on the island of Roatan under the direction of her research mentor, Dr. Ling Zhan, DDS, PhD.  She received funding from the UCSF Kwan Global Health Fund, Global Healing, and donated supplies from Colgate and Patterson Dental. While there, she distributed much needed supplies and trained local nurses and physicians in fluoride varnish application and caries prevention education.
