Emergency Rotation | Children's Hospital, Oakland

Residents rotate for two weeks. Residents are given an excellent introduction to Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital, Oakland, Northern California’s major pediatric trauma center. Residents play a significant role in triage and assessment of urgent patients, work closely with ER staff to help stabilize children with trauma, help formulate a differential diagnosis and treatment plan, assist in physicals and help provide care for patients in the ER.

Pediatric Rotation | Children's Hospital, Oakland

Residents rotate for one week. Residents rotate through various pediatric specialty clinics at Children's Hospital in Oakland. Residents are provided with a broad perspective in primary and tertiary pediatric care in a major children's hospital, including an overview in physical diagnosis for the child.

La Clinica | Children's Hospital, Oakland

Residents rotate for one month. This rotation offers an outstanding opportunity for our residents to treat a wide variety of medically compromised children in a state-of-the-art dental clinic at Children’s Hospital Oakland under the mentorship of an attending pediatric dentist who is an Adjunct Faculty member in our department. Residents rotate at the clinic throughout the three year program as their schedule permits.

Pediatric Rotation | UCSF Hospital

Residents rotate for one week. Residents rotate through transplant clinics including kidney and liver transplant, participating in patient care and clinical research.

Anesthesia Rotation | UCSF Hospital

Residents rotate for one month.  The program offers comprehensive training in sedation/anesthesia training. The Anesthesia Rotation is a major aspect of this training.  It is offered during the first year of the Residency program in order to enable the residents to gain familiarity, competency and, as appropriate, proficiency, in experiences that are not obtainable outside the operating room. Residents receive the foundation that they require to administer safe and efficacious sedative management to their pediatric patients. In addition to the rotation, residents participate in conferences, assigned seminars, lectures and weekly Anesthesia Grand Rounds. Residents also attend selected lectures and seminars given at the beginning of the Academic Year for the incoming Anesthesiology Residents.

Tenderloin Community Clinic | San Francisco

Throughout the three year program, residents provide comprehensive dental care to children at the Tenderloin Community Clinic, a clinic servicing the underserved pediatric population in San Francisco. It is one of numerous opportunities available to residents to participate in community service.

Craniofacial Clinic

In this rotation, residents participate in the craniofacial clinic along with other specialists who provide consultations and care to a unique patient population.

Lifelong Dental Clinic | Berkeley

Throughout the three year program, residents provide comprehensive dental care at Lifelong Health Center in Berkeley, a clinic servicing the underserved population in the East Bay.
