Hospital Training

Pediatric Dentistry Residents augment their clinical experience at UCSF hospital, which is adjacent to the School of Dentistry. The residents are introduced to the fundamentals involved in providing consultative services, evaluation and provision of comprehensive dental care in the hospital inpatient and outpatient setting in a didactic course. This didactic course is complemented by actual Hospital dental practice in which the residents receive clinical instruction working as members of the health care team in the hospital setting in the O.R. Additional experience is gained during the Emergency Room and Pediatric Dental Rotation at Children’s Hospital Oakland, Northern California’s major pediatric trauma center.

Education and experience in sedation and general anesthesia are provided through classes and seminars, plus clinical training in a one-month anesthesia rotation at UCSF Hospital.
